+ Time to arrive?

Role Models should arrive at 4pm. Nominees and Honorees should arrive at 5pm. Family, Friends and everyone else should arrive between 4:30pm and 5:30pm.

Red carpet ends by 6:20pm and show starts at 7pm and end at approximately 10:15pm.

After party starts at 11pm till 2:30am at no extra cost to those who already bought tickets.

+ Will Tickets be available at the venue on event day.

Tickets will be available at the door for purchase only if available and at door prices.

Our honoree list is filled with newsworthy achievers like Dr Alvin Curling, Frantz Benjamin, Mohamed Salih, Elcho Stewart, Cpl. Nathan Cirillo, Emily Mills, Bishop McEwan Sr., Orlando Bowen, Mary Galvan, Ricardo McRae, Ammar Kamara and others who are pioneers in their fields.

 

+ Will food be served?

It’s a theater seated event. Food may be available for sale. Drinks will be available at the bar subject to payment at the bar.

Light cocktail will be available for VIP's, Nominees and Role Models only (During the Limo cruise between 4:30pm and 7pm).

 

+ Are kids allowed to Attend? Any age restrictions?

All Kids can attend but we recommend they eat from home.

The Award Ceremony is a family friendly event and everyone is welcome to attend. The After party starts at 11pm and is for adults only or accompanied by as adult.

 

+ What is the Limo Cruise at the Awards?

It's a classy VIP treatment, exclusive and custom designed for some of the attendees at the Black Canadian Awards.

We are offering this complimentary Limo cruise to our Nominees, Honorees, Presenters and VIPs (and those who bought VIP tickets).

 

+ When will the winners of the Top 6 nominee vote Results be announced?

 At the awards on June 6th from 7pm and online from 11pm. Some awards may be given out between 4pm and 6pm. While the rest will be given from 7pm during the event.

 

+ Who should we expect to see on the red carpet?

The Gathering of 100 Role Models all in one location. Lots of influential individuals, Professionals, Politicians, Business Executives and regular people from different backgrounds from all over Canada. Some international guests and VIPs will also be attending.

Almost all our nominees and honorees will be in attendance.

 

+ What will be given to the winners and recipients at this National Awards?

Nominees and Honorees will be receiving Trophies (Custom made crystal and gold trophies for the Black Canadian Awards)

Role Models will be receiving a certificate of recognition as a role model and ambassador of our community by the Diversity Advancement Network.

Our Role Models will also be personally congratulated by MPs, Senators, Councillors and other dignitaries that are equally excited about the occasion and the achievements of the role models.

All role models will also receive a congratulatory documentations from several government officials. All role model interviews will be published on the "National Wall of Role Models" and directly linked to the interviews. See www.BlackCanadianAwards.com for full list and interviews.

There will be an after party at the same venue. The After party is complimentary admission if you bought tickets for the awards otherwise admission will be $10

 

+ Other important things to know?

The ceremony will crown, through a nomination and voting process, various artists and genres of music such as Best R&B Artist, Best Jazz Artist and Best Actor/Actress, just to mention a few. It will also feature a talent scholarship based competition to crown the Black Canadian Queen for the year 2014. We feel that more can be done to further showcase achievers and talents from our community all over Canada. Knowledge is power, yet there are too many people who have little or no knowledge of the richness and depth of our history, culture and achievements in Canada both past and present. Therefore, we are committed to effect a change in this area through this awards ceremony.

BlackCanadianAwards.com is our online platform with a mandate to showcase success stories and trailblazers on a daily basis in order to inspire and positively advance the Black community in Canada and beyond. Our honoree list is filled with newsworthy achievers like Jean Augustine, Eleanor Collins, Lindsay Blackett, Bishop Audley James, Lilie Johnson, Donovan Bailey and others who are pioneers in their fields. For the first time in history, we are presenting one hundred role models with their full stories and much more. Many dignitaries are expected at this formal red carpet event on June 7th from 5pm. The Award Ceremony will be hosted by one of Montreal most recognized entertainer, Dorothy Rhau and Toronto's accomplished artist, actor and youth educator, Sean Mauricette aka SUBLIMINAL. There will be performances by Shi Wisdom, Ammoye, Farahri, Reema Major, Carlos Morgan, Anslem Douglas, Sharon Musgrave, Londa Larmond, Flo, Esie Mensah and much more. Several guests and recipients will be travelling to attend this prestigious event from all over Canada and from a few countries. A special presentation will be focused on the kidnapped girls #BringBackOurGirls to show support to the families and the international community.

For the 1988 CBC Vancouver TV series THEN & NOW, Lynne McNamara talks with Vancouver's first lady of jazz, Eleanor Collins, about her life and career.

In 1954 she made her TV debut in CBC Vancouver's "Bamboula" and in 1955 she was the first black woman and jazz vocalist to host her own national CBC weekly show "Eleanor" with the Chris Gage Trio.

On July 1st 1975, she headlined the Dominion Day ceremonies in Ottawa.
